About the event

What will I do? This group program will guide you through 6 art worksho aimed at helping you understand your personal strengths and hero qualities. The aim of these workshops is to promote confidence, resilience, and well-being through creativity, introspection, and exploration. 

You will use mixed media, printmaking, painting, illustration and more to communicate your ideas.  This fun and hands-on program works with all ages and can be tailored to suit your needs and abilities.  

Cost: Each workshop is $79 per and including all supplies.  

NDIS: funding is accepted under the Support Item - Individual Skills Development And Training Line item 09_009_0117_6_3 for self-managed and plan-managed individuals.  

Registration: Register your interest as soon as possible to get a space in the program.  Please do not apply unless you plan to attend ALL 6 workshops.  

Program Outline:

Week 1 - Suit up! Superhero (May 10th)

Discover your hero qualities, design a superhero logo, and choose your alias.  Meet the rest of the super hero team and pledge to be a force for good in the community.  Use this as inspiration to make wearable art armour as protection for your hero. 

Week 2 - Secret Hideout (May 17th)

Use printmaking techniques to design your own hideout/safe space where your hero self can go to recharge, take off your mask, and de-stress free from external pressures.

Week 3 - Monsters Unleashed (May 24th)

The BIG feelings in life can be overwhelming, use fabric art to represent a feeling grown out of control, then explore ways to tame and train it become your useful sidekick.

Week 4 - Heroes and Villains (May 31st)

Explore your personal strengths then represent your own superhero using mixed media.  Identify how these strengths help you face a range of challenges/ villains.

Week 5 - My Hero's Journey (June 7th)

Design your own comic storyboard hero and villain imagery to share an experience of a time you were able to use your strengths to overcome a challenge, using the storytelling techniques of the heroes journey.

Week 6 -  Allies Assemble and A World to Save (June 14th)

Introduce your hero to the group then explore the benefits of having allies to support you in circumstances you find difficult to navigate on your own.  As a group identify potential allies that can support you in the real world.  Collaborate to create an artwork inspired by each individuals appreciation of nature and the need to collaborate to protect our planet.  

Celebrate your accomplishments and decide if you would like your artwork to be exhibited in your community.
